Apps aren’t the problem, they are just poorly designed tools

Wish the apps made it so only people you’re compatible with can interact with you. Like if they gave scores based on religious and cultural values, location, dealbreakers, age, etc. otherwise it just gets overwhelming and that’s why many of us end up deleting them so quickly. Also if a bio and clear pictures were enforced then only serious folks would actually take the time to fill out their profile and give thoughtful responses.

What do y’all think?

Marrying someone who isn’t Somali

For those of you who married outside the culture, what’s been your experience? Especially if you had a strong preference to marrying a Somali, do you feel like you missed out? For me most important is religion then culture but just want to know what to expect. JazakAllah khair

Navigating a pre-dominantly white workplace

So I’m working in corporate in a pre-dominantly white workplace, the field is more diverse but not my current job. How do you all manage? I feel like they have preconceived notions about our community too so that doesn’t help and being the only Muslim/hijabi as well, it’s a bit much but I can’t tell if I’m taking it too personally or not?

They generally don’t talk much unless in their circles but I get some stares and idk if it’s all in my head or what
