Amazon has thousands of items ringing up at $0.01 right now (penny event) — here's what's real vs. a "starting price"
Saw this go live this morning and it's a real one. There's a slice of Amazon's
store right now where thousands of items are pricing at a single penny — clothes,
shoes, kitchen stuff, baby/kids items, even some name brands (Champion, Carter's,
Keds have shown up).
Couple of honest heads-ups so nobody gets burned:
- Amazon's $35 free-shipping minimum still applies (free if you're Prime). Easy to
hit when everything's a cent.
- A handful of "design your own" listings (custom pins/hats/buttons) use $0.01 as a
STARTING price that climbs once you pick a quantity. Always glance at the cart total
before you check out — those aren't true penny items.
- Glitch/clearance prices like this die fast and the odd one gets cancelled. No harm
if it does, you just get your penny back.
To find them yourself: open the sale storefront and sort/filter by lowest price — the
real penny items float to the top.
I wrote up exactly how it works, the catches, and split it out by category (women's,
kids, shoes, kitchen, etc.) here:
