I don't know what I photographed today.

I don't usually post things like this because there's always someone who says it's Photoshopped.

I work surveying land in rural areas. Today I was taking photos to document some old buildings when I saw a small house half-hidden among the trees. It looked abandoned.

There were no cars. No noise.

I took a picture from a distance and kept working.

Just a little while ago, while reviewing the images on the computer, I saw the face.

At first I thought it was one of those yellow signs with a smiley face. Makes sense, right?

But I zoomed in.

It's not hanging.

It's peeking out from behind a column.

And the worst part is that it's not in the same place in the other photos.

I only have three pictures of that house.

In the second one, it's a little further out.

In the third one, it's not visible anymore.

If the master of horror had Letterboxd

I was just bored and started doing this. I relied heavily on Stephen King's recommendations and talks in his essay "Danse Macabre".

Rage

I've been an avid reader for years, and I've read King's stories about vampires, indescribable monsters, and even aliens with almost dark devotion... But I've never had so much trouble finishing a book because of the discomfort it caused me.

Something strange happened with Rage. It took me months to finish reading it. And not because it was badly written or because of some reader's block.

Now I realize that part of the problem lay in the writing, or rather, the language of the book. It was incredibly well-written for such a young author (my God, he started writing it in high school!), but it was also raw, visceral, and brimming with barely contained (and then completely uncontrolled) violence. The words didn't flow naturally; they buzzed like a swarm of angry wasps.

I wasn't reading about a troubled, unbalanced kid named Charlie Decker. I turned the pages and found myself being Charlie Decker. And I didn't like it one bit.

The best villain of all time

Max Cady is perhaps one of the best antagonists I've ever seen in film, without a doubt. And in my humble opinion, it's Robert De Niro's best performance.

The best collection of novels

Is "If It Bleeds" perhaps one of King's best collections? I think it's been a long time since the master published a collection of stories where all of them were of the same high quality.
