Got my Portal back! Warranty returned within a week.
PS2 Box for continuity (sorry/not sorry?)
On Sunday May 10th about 2am-ish my Portal died. Was playing (while charging) and it just kicked the bucket similar to if you pulled the power plug on your TV or computer. At the time it was less than 5 weeks old.
Tried several hours of "fixes" based on Google searching but had a warranty/return claim open by 10am with a prepaid return shipping label. After posting to this sub I got a lot of suggestions but sadly no fixes so off it went to a FedEx location about 2pm Tuesday (in Oklahoma). It made it there (Texas) by 10am Thursday and was either repaired or swapped and shipped out by 3:30pm that same day, spent Friday hopping around Texas and was just returned Saturday at 1pm.
The warranty process was quick and smooth. The only problem I encountered was my particular issue wasn't listed in the "reasons for return/repair" as "not powering on" wasn't an option so I selected something along the lines of "button not working" because, technically the power button wasn't working? Filled in a few details like Serial #, Model #, and my info and I had the email from Sony with the prepaid shipping slip in 5 minutes. Didn't need a receipt or proof of purchase... which I actually found a bit odd.
Anyway this is what I was sent back. Not sure if it's new or a refurb. Pretty sure it's not my original as the turn around was too quick... and it has a different Serial#. I shipped it to them just bubble wrapped in a plain box so the gray inner Portal boxes are new and were inside a plain brown cardboard box. All-in-all I'm pretty happy with things. Sucked to be without it for a week but in everyone's life a little rain must fall.
TL;DR - My Portal broke. Had it sent off and got a return within a week. Glad to be a part of the Portal-Pack again.
