If I'm being real a lot of really great Japanese fiction just puts a bunch of Western European culture in a blender just for weird stuff and it's kino isn't it? Evangelion isn't exactly accurate to Christianity but it's still fun in a horrifying way.

I take a much less pessimistic stance than this but this is a necessary starting point for actually discussing contemporary issues. The federal government has been bad for a long time.
