Late August Mudro to Crooked

We are planning our annual BWCA trip. We have gone every fall since 2023 and have tried to do new routes each year. We are planning EP 22 (Mudro) and plan to go to Crooked. There will be 2 experienced paddlers and one first timer with good outdoor experience.

We hammock camp, so trees are important. But also opens up to campsites without great tent pads.We like to do a long first day, spend 4-5 nights at one site and split the return trip to make exit a little easier. We have done Kawishiwi-Malberg and Mudro-Beartrap on day one, so we don't shy away from a long day one.

We spend most of our time fishing. Usually target walleye and small mouth, but love an occasional pike for the fight.

What routes would you recommend for this Fall trip?

What campsites would be recommended?

Recommend a three man canoe or a double and a single?

Fishing gear/recommendations? (Fishing gear below)

Fishing Gear:

Spinning reel (2)

Assorted plastics (mostly worms and swim baits)

Gumball jig heads (for Leeches)

Assorted rigging jigs (swimbait, Ned, wacky, shaky)

Crankbaits

Late August Gear Recommendations

We are planning our annual Fall BWCA trip. I want to ensure we have all of the gear we need, learn about new useful gear, and identify what we may have that is unnecessary.

Edit: we go for 6-7 days. Long first day to Basecamp, then fishing from there for 4-5 days. We split the return trip in half and do a mid point camp for easier exit. We usually have two people, but possibly adding a third this year.

What gear might we be over looking or unaware of to add to our trip?

What gear should we shed?
