take the plunge with cannula!

I want to post it because I realized it might not be a common knowledge, and maybe it'll help someone.

I've been scared of cannulas for a long time. I've also been scared of VOs. So I limited use of collagen boosters with polymers or particles, because I don't like deep injections with aspiration.

A while ago I finally got an idea that seems obvious in retrospect: I ordered cannulas, and prepped myself for a session of liquid PCL (Miraxle L). Iniblanc placement points on the cheeks are coincidentally also good injection points for cannula placement (per Gouri cannula instructions).

My plan was: I make pilot hole, and I insert my cannula. If I am too squeamish, uncomfortable, or it's too hard to thread the cannula all the way under my skin, I will just use the tip of the cannula to inject 0.2ml bolus per iniblanc protocol. I still get the benefit of cannula protecting from VO risk, since the blunt tip of cannula makes it very hard to pierce a blood vessel.

The first time I pushed the cannula less than a centimeter in, and I delivered my PCL in a sort of 3-4 little depots around the point pattern. But the cannula fear was gone.

Next time I threaded the cannula all the way and got nice spread of PCL delivery. Then I finally got brave enough to do hyperdilluted Radiesse, which worked fantastic.

If you're in this sub, and considering cannula at all, you presumably have experience with needles on your face. So the pilot hole for the cannula won't be any different than what you've already done. Start at the cheek iniblanc point, so if you decide not to do full cannula insertion, you still can deliver the product in depot drop. And then, no pressure. If all you can do is insert the cannula tip few milimeters in, that's fine. You still get blunt tip delivery, so less VO risk. And next time you'll be brave enough to thread the cannula a little deeper.

I hope that helps someone who's like me been sitting there scared of starting with cannulas.

US customs crackdown?

[US specific]: I just noticed this announcement on kstation. They're suspending US shipping.

Does anyone know what's up? Is there some special customs action for influx of 4th sales orders? Or something else unusual going on?

I got two shipments from Korea last month and customs cleared fast both times. This must be new.

I placed Meamo order yesterday and I was just going to pay for it. I'm going to cancel it now, and wait a while.

It's so dang hot where I live anyway, and it's even hotter in Chicago, where my customs clear. So I might as well wait so my package doesn't cook.

filler-outlet payment via transfer

Does anyone know if Filler Outlet payment can be done just by direct bank transfer, not Wise?

They give all bank details in the order email. Could I just pay them?

I'm very icked out by Wise verification. I don't want to upload my ID and picture of my face holding the ID to a random company I never heard of. I am likely going to abandon my filler outlet order rather than complete that payment.

I paid via bank transfer to Meamo and other vendors before, I'm fine with that. I would pay via Wise if it wasn't for that verification process.

Meamo package reshipping

Does anyone have experience with Meamo reshipping a package?

I don't think my package is stuck in customs. I think it's just stuck. It cleared customs, it has "inbound out of customs" and then "arrived at usps facility" and it's still three states away from me, hasn't moved in three days.

It's already been 5 days since Meamo shipped, those ice packs are gone.

The package is exosome products and lidocaine. Lido can be ok at RT, I know. But exosomes, and their solution, those degrade fast.

I ordered tox and fillers from Meamo before and that came quickly. Which is ironic, because lyophilized tox could sit at room temp for a while.

I know I should wait till the package eventually gets here, which is another bummer. I was hoping to have it this weekend because I have series of meso treatments planned, with the right scheduling etc. Now I probably won't get it till next week, then I have to ask Meamo to reship, and then wait who knows how long again. Boo.

Does anyone have experience with Memo reshipping order? how do I even start that process?

thanks! Sorry to whine, I know in the great scheme of things it's not a big deal, but I was really excited for that package.

open end plastic tubes

Does anyone have a source of plastic tubes that come with open back, for sealing with heat sealer?

I use aluminum tubes because that's what's easily available. I would love to switch to plastic, but all I'm finding are pretty pricey options or minimum purchase of gazillion.

I would like to buy something like 100 or 200, ideally significantly under $1/tube.

If anyone knows a source with something like 500 minimum and good price, I would be happy to go splitsies? but ideally I would order something with lower minimums.

Injection pattern for sagging jowl area

Could anyone please share a link to guidelines on collagen stimulant injection pattern for sagging jowl area?

I think it might be similar, if not identical, to injection sites for fillers for that area.

All I'm finding is botox injection site maps. I'm going to do PLA injection, not tox.

I mainly want to know if the injection sites are right on the jowline, or slightly below / above the edge of the jowl?

[picture for illustrative purposes only, my own jowls are not quite that saggy yet]

layering toners with occlusive silicones

I'm a big fan of layering toners. Often I spend an hour adding layer after layer in the evening, before moving on to my rich moisturizer cream. Of course I'm doing chores and other stuff for 5-10min between layers, not sit there literally watch paint (or toner) dry.

Collecting toners is kind of my hobby.

Here's my dilemma: many toners and ampoules with nice ingredients also have silicone, most often dimethicones. Of course the manufacturer never tells you which dimethicone was used, so it's hard to tell how volatile it is. I know that in a thin toner, the actual concentration of dimethicone is low, so it shouldn't create too much of a barrier. Still, it is an occlusive, and a good one.

I am not against silicones in skincare. I use them in several products. The issue here is that if I want to use a toner, that's usually meant to be a bottom layer, with other things on top. In normal routine it would be serum and moisturizer, in the popular layering routines it would be bunch of other toners.

Do we have any data on thickness and permeability of layer created by low concentration of dimethicones in toner?

I'm concerned that toner with dimethicone will create a barrier, as the silicone is supposed to do, and anything I layer over it will heve inhibited absorption.

Does anyone else worry about layering over toners with silicone? or am I overthinking it?
