take the plunge with cannula!
I want to post it because I realized it might not be a common knowledge, and maybe it'll help someone.
I've been scared of cannulas for a long time. I've also been scared of VOs. So I limited use of collagen boosters with polymers or particles, because I don't like deep injections with aspiration.
A while ago I finally got an idea that seems obvious in retrospect: I ordered cannulas, and prepped myself for a session of liquid PCL (Miraxle L). Iniblanc placement points on the cheeks are coincidentally also good injection points for cannula placement (per Gouri cannula instructions).
My plan was: I make pilot hole, and I insert my cannula. If I am too squeamish, uncomfortable, or it's too hard to thread the cannula all the way under my skin, I will just use the tip of the cannula to inject 0.2ml bolus per iniblanc protocol. I still get the benefit of cannula protecting from VO risk, since the blunt tip of cannula makes it very hard to pierce a blood vessel.
The first time I pushed the cannula less than a centimeter in, and I delivered my PCL in a sort of 3-4 little depots around the point pattern. But the cannula fear was gone.
Next time I threaded the cannula all the way and got nice spread of PCL delivery. Then I finally got brave enough to do hyperdilluted Radiesse, which worked fantastic.
If you're in this sub, and considering cannula at all, you presumably have experience with needles on your face. So the pilot hole for the cannula won't be any different than what you've already done. Start at the cheek iniblanc point, so if you decide not to do full cannula insertion, you still can deliver the product in depot drop. And then, no pressure. If all you can do is insert the cannula tip few milimeters in, that's fine. You still get blunt tip delivery, so less VO risk. And next time you'll be brave enough to thread the cannula a little deeper.
I hope that helps someone who's like me been sitting there scared of starting with cannulas.
