Straight Talk shut off my service after Verizon tower outages—because I moved my SIM to another phone?
My Straight Talk service was already acting up during the Verizon tower outages. I was having issues with service and was trying to figure out whether it was the outage, my phone, or my SIM. To troubleshoot, I put my Straight Talk SIM card into a different compatible phone. After that, when I contacted Straight Talk to ask what was going on with my service, I was told my line had been shut off because I moved the SIM into another device. They said the phone change was supposed to be done through their activation/upgrade process. I understand they may have a procedure for transferring service to another device, but I genuinely did not know that temporarily moving my SIM to troubleshoot during an outage could lead to my service being disconnected. There was no clear warning to me that this could happen. Now I’m trying to find out: Is this normal with Straight Talk now? Can they restore the same number and remaining service plan? Do I need a new SIM and to formally activate the other phone? Has anyone else had this happen during or after the Verizon outages? I’m frustrated because I was only trying to get my phone working again, and now I’m without service altogether.
