6 week old helix, titanium, 16 gauge, saline spray

I went to my piercing checkup today and my piercer told me that my bottom helix isn’t healing well, either because the post wasn’t long enough for the swelling so it wasn’t drying properly or bacterial infection. First two photos are from before she changed the post to a longer one, last photo is from an hour later.

I went to urgent care to see if I could get antibiotics as she recommended I see a doctor and ask about that. The doctor had a nurse or PA in training (I can’t remember her exact title) see me, and she said that he recommended I take it out and not get that spot repierced.

Just looking for another opinion since he never actually looked at my piercing and I know doctors are not always the most knowledgeable about piercings. My piercer also told me not to take it out because the infection could get trapped inside?

I used the fine mist saline spray from NeilMed, but I got careless so it was not twice every day in the last week. Really not sure what to do as I got conflicting advice.

Tagged NSFW because the last picture has some dried blood.
