AITH for telling my coworker I won’t cover for her anymore at work?
I (27M) work in a small office with about 10 people. One of my coworkers (29F) and I are on decent terms, not close friends but friendly enough.
Over the past couple months, she’s started asking me to cover for her pretty regularly. It started small like clocking her in when she was running late or saying she was in the restroom when she stepped out early. At first I didn’t think much of it, but it’s been happening more often lately.
Last week, she asked me to tell our manager she was in a meeting when she actually left early for a personal appointment. That didn’t sit right with me, so I told her I wasn’t comfortable lying for her anymore.
She got upset and said I was making things harder for her and that everyone helps each other out. Since then, she’s been pretty cold toward me at work, and another coworker said I made it awkward over something small.
I don’t want drama at work, but I also don’t want to risk getting in trouble for covering things I’m not supposed to.
So AITH for refusing to cover for my coworker anymore?
