So I got a letter from TPS last week that threw me at first: I was being compelled to come to court (online or in person) regarding a "fail to remain" charge from October 2024. I thought it was about me at first, but then saw the named defendant and it all came back to me. I was a witness to an event that happened back then, and was interviewed by a detective a few months later. I had provided photo evidence that probably led to the ID of the defendant, so I guess I'm a key person in the case.

I am leaving things vague here, just in case there is some issue with talking about a case like this online, but I am mostly wondering from others who have been similarly called to testify: what to expect? I am debating going in person but will likely Zoom in, as it's an option. I imagine there are possibilities like the defendent or officer not showing, or things being put over for various reasons. This is not a criminal case, so I imagine the stakes all around are a bit lower, but I really want to participate and do my part as the event I saw was not OK and someone was harmed.

Should I be going over the day in my memory banks, checking my photos, calls and any other online activity that helps me frame exactly where I was coming and going, as I honestly don't remember much beyond where I was, and what I saw and did during and just after the incident.
