Gap in resume

I have a lot of gaps in my resume. Migrated to US so could not work for about a year or so. Had kids and took a break for 8 years because my younger one had a LOT of health issues. So my career began in 2002. In 2021 after a 8 year gap, I got into a training program to brush up my skills and my guide there asked me not to show any gaps in resume. So there was no fake experience or company on my resume, just fake dates to hide the gap. I managed to land a job, looks like they just did a background check really no historical employer check. I have been in this organization for 5 yrs now and am ready to move on. But as I am applying for jobs I have this doubt with my mind, if I should continue with what I have ie a resume without any gaps or should I show the gaps, and hopefully the last 5 years of employment would give me a solid base. I ask because I got a couple of federal contracts but I backed out becuase I think they do check employment history and it should be really accurate

How to deal with co - worker who may be lying

I am not too proud of myself for thinking like this. But I have a co worker who may be cooking up some numbers to show how using AI has increased their productivity. It makes the rest of us looks quite bad, we are sincerely doing our jobs and he just found a flashy way to use AI to show some productivity increase which is not true at all, or rather it does not speak the whole truth.

My manager is very impressed with the numbers. For some context my manager does not have visibilty into our day- day work and actually knows nothing about our work. He is just a people person and belives whatever this co worker is feeding him.

I am scared I will come acorss as a toxic employee if I try to complain against this co worker

How to care less?

Last 5 years I have given my everything to my job. I was a SAHM for a long time and then by a stroke of luck landed a job when I was 41 and did very well in team. Everyone appreciates me and acknowledges my contributions. Till another person was hired, who does the same work as me. He is not that great tbh, but he has a way of presenting his work. It feels very important and impactful. I do the same work but never feels like that. Not that I have been overshadowed by him, but it irks me that no one sees thro him. Everyone is at the surface level and no one goes deep to see how flawed his work his.

Its doing a number on my mental health and I just want to silent quit. But not sure how to go about it. How to care less. If I care less and do less than what I do now, this co worker will get promoted over me, get more appreciation etc. Not sure if I can bear that too

Hi

I have a gaping 8 yr gap in my resume from due to various life circumstances. I worked with a training company which trained me on a skill and I successfully landed a job. But I had not shown the gap in the my resume.

Now I am tired of the current job and looking for other offers. I have an opportunity to work on a federal contract and I submitted my resume with my current experience which is about 5 yrs but again did not show the gap in employment.

How rigourous are the background checks for federal contracts?
