Feedings and babies needs.
So, I had my baby on 03/13. She’s two months, and some time after her second peds appointment (2 weeks old) she had gained her birth weight back and then some. I was told by her doctor that she still needs to eat every 2 hours, but when we woke her the last thing she wanted to do was eat. I asked about it I believe in the March2026babies subreddit, and a lot suggested to just let her rest and she’ll wake when she’s hungry. I have since done so, and has clearly gained. She came home at 6lbs and her last appointment at 2 weeks she was just shy of 8lbs.
My concern now is her intake. I breastfeed and bottle feed. But I feel like she’s not taking enough bottles during the day? She seems content when she’s full, because she is a certified crash out when she’s hungry. If we go off of this morning, she woke up around 4:30ish, I feed her then. I woke up for work at 5:45 and that’s when we started our day; she was breastfed then. This is when bottles come into play, and she takes 4 bottles a day all 4.5 - 5 oz. Then by evening we’re back to breastfeeding starting around 9 or so, and then through the night should she wake up. Is she eating enough? Because of course I can’t gauge that when she’s on the boob. But like I said she feels heavier, she fills out her clothes and her appetite hasn’t decreased. Still getting wet and poo diapers with every change. Temp is normal and she never refuses a feed (accept for this one time she was so gassy her belly hurt and had to give her some medicine to help with gas, but she made up for it the next day.) I just need some opinions and advice as a FTM, and the first in my family to breastfeed in since my great mawmaw.
