I have a 2015 escape. It’s got ~180k miles on it. Got a new engine at around 120k due to a piston smashing out the side of the engine block. Been running fine since, but for about a year now I’ve been getting the p0299 occasionally. It seems to mostly be when we’re driving it for longer periods and have the AC running. I’ve replaced the waste gate solenoid with no luck. It’s generally not sluggish or anything. I noticed today that, when it’s running, there’s air blowing out of somewhere near the right side of the engine block (looking at the engine from the front of the vehicle). Is that normal or indicative of an air leak somewhere? I couldn’t find any obvious source for it.
