Nobody acknowledged that I graduated community college.

I’ve recently graduated community college with my Associates degree, and plan to go to a University in the fall to continue my education. I know me finishing community college is just a halfway step, and not as important as me graduating with a bachelor, but it hurts that no one cared at all. From the people Ive told, all I got was something like “Oh that’s great! Goodjob!” and then they completely move past it. Im not someone who cares for huge parties or anything, but yk, a card, or maybe a cake would be nice.

One of my cousins also just graduated with their bachelor degree, and also plans to stay in Uni to continue his education. He got a big weekend long celebration, filled with gifts, cake, ect. Im not saying he didnt deserve that (he did, and I understand a bachelor is a bigger deal than associates), but I wouldn’t been so happy with just a fraction of that.

I really didn’t realise how much this affected me until I just now got a mass sent message from my now alumni community college, that at the end said “We wish you the best in your journey, we are proud of you”, where I realised that was the first time Ive heard those words over this. My family meant no harm, and I am such a low maintenance person usually that I guess they just looked over this completely. But it hurts, I also just wanted to be acknowledged.
