BOSS Katana Gen 3 50W 1x12 Guitar Combo
So I'm looking to get a new amp and wondering what you guys think of the Katana Gen 3. I really like how it has the different wattage settings and high gain. I just like to jam metal—lots of Lamb of God, lots of Slayer. It seems like the perfect amp. From what I’ve looked into, it seems like I can hook it up to my PC and use Boss Tone Studio for even more features.
My current situation: I have a Line 6 Spider IV that’s super old. It seems like the speakers are messed up because the sound becomes muffled every once in a while, but it’s also just very old. I also have a Peavey ValveKing 212 combo 100W that my buddy “converted” into a head with a Peavey 2x12 cab. My guess is the speakers blew in the combo and he just rigged it. It’s cool, but it’s just too big for a bedroom setup.
Messing with the tone, I feel like I can’t crank the amp loud enough to really make good use of it and get the tone I’m looking for.
It might be all in my head, to be honest—I’m not sure. I’ve been playing for a decent amount of time, but I just bought a new guitar after a few years of not playing. Going from the Line 6, where I heavily relied on presets, to the Peavey makes it feel like it’s just too much amp for a bedroom player. trying to find a good middle ground and i think the Katana might be it.
What do you guys think?
