Pokemon Red savefile just dissapeared but the battery is working

I was playing a few hours ago but when I returned and turned on the console (game inside) my savefile was gone. The battery was instaled recently and it should be working since I tested it.

Any clues what could be happening? Is my savefile toast?

Opinion on the condition of games

The other day I finally got Oracle of Ages to complete the set. As you can see the season one is better preserved while Ages definitely saw better times. But then I wondered what do players and collectors think about the condition of their games.

Do you mind if you don't have a well preserved game? Or you don't care as long as yoy can play your favorites?

Not an original Gameboy Color screen?

I got a gameboy color yesterday and when I opened it to clean the inside I noticed the screen was different from others.

Could it be the gameboy had the screen replaced before I purchased it?
