What should I put on my mini cartridges?
Yes, I know the colors aren't right. It's the closest I had.
In case you can't read my handwriting, it says "Favorite Gameboy games? I need ideas for my false cartridges."
I'm using a modified version of "Gameboy fidget toy" by Nicholas Chou on Makerspace. I modified the slider to be a short cartridge and the knob holding the slider to be a thin bar.
If you have any suggestions on the model to make it more realistic (within reason), please tell me!
💙
Edit: I've made a Tetris (I painted it upsidedown and I don't like it) and a Super Mario Land. I'm working on a Link's Awakening atm. I'm going to make a Metroid, Kirby, and Kid Iccarus due to my friend's obsession. Still taking recommendations though!
Edit 2: Thank you for the Pokemon suggestions, but I already used it for the original model from the fidget.
Sharing the coolest Gameboy in my collection… the Hyundai Mini Comboy!
Hello everyone! :) I’ve been a fan of and love handheld Nintendo systems, and wanted to share the coolest one I’ve gotten in my collection. Got this a few weeks ago off of FB Marketplace for a steal. Also just wanted to make sure it and the Tetris game both looked legit!
Last picture is my current Gameboy and handheld system collection on my shelf
Got two gems today, Solar Striker & BattleTanx
Lost my Solar Striker cart as a kid and finally have it again while BattleTanx has been on my radar for a while, for $10 each I'm very happy!
DMG103 with joystick
This is my version of the DMG103 with touchscreen still functional, screen switch mod, built in stylus and of course, a fully functional Nintendo switch joystick replacing the dpad.
What is going wrong here?
I am trying to install a Funnyplaying LED backlight kit to work and I am most of the way there but the A, B, and Brightness button aren’t working. I feel like my soldering was good but which of these joints is causing the failure?
I don’t want to touch it too much to troubleshoot out of fear of making it worse. If I need to send more pictures I will, any advice is appreciated.
Is my EZ Flash draining my GBA battery or is something else wrong?
Recently ive noticed a problem with my GBA SP, i mainly play games on my EZ Flash Omega but i feel like my battery only lasts ~2h.
I dont play for hours straight but i will usually pick it up, play for maybe 30-40min, put it down and maybe do that 1 or 2 more times before the red light shows up or it just dies mid game.
Ive heard that EZF’s can take up a but more battery to run but 5h+ more??
Either my battery is just very old and run down or they really just draw up that much power… im not sure🤷♂️
Boxy Pixel Gameboy Color
I’m currently working on a boxypixel gameboy color mod and one of the screws completely broke while assembling it. The screw is recessed so there’s nothing to grab. I’ve tried slowly dremling it to try to get a slot to grab on with a flathead, but have not had any luck. Any suggestions for how to remove this?

After installing Funnyplaying Q5 IPS shell nothing will play
it ends up stuck on this screen, and im really worried i did something wrong. does anyone have advice?
this is fixed btw
EDIT: the garbled nintendo logo was fixed after I found that there was some flux that connected a few lines from the cart reader on the motherboard and cleaned it off, but after that it passed the boot screen and got stuck on a white screen. i found out that bc earlier i trimmed the leads of the pins for the cart reader on the back of the motherboard bc i thought it was a pressure issue, that reflowing it helped, and after a couple tries it ended up working. thanks for the help everyone!
Clearing out my shelf when (i guess) i pulled a cord it was lying on
Any recommendations where i can get a (new) Pearl Blue AGS 101 (in EU)
This one is from my childhood and probably 21 years old, still perfectly working all clicky and stuff untill now.
Nothing will ever have the same value as this one to me but i need to have it for my childhood me.
Pokémon silver GBC problem
Hi, one of my Pokémon silver carts is not going bast the Gameboy Nintendo logo. Just blank after that. Can you guys have a look at the PCB ? Thanks.
FPGBC display purple smudge & console impressions
Ordered the FPGBC kit directly from Funny Playing; received and assembled it today. My main annoyance with it right now is this purple smudge in the lower-left quadrant of the display. I did see it when I tested the display before assembling the console, but I was a little distracted and it didn't register as a problem for me until I had assembled the whole thing. Funny Playing's web site says the display is out of warranty once it has been installed so I assume I'm stuck with this spot unless I buy another display. I find it distracting when I have the display in "full" mode; in 4x integer scaling modes it is still visible but doesn't intersect with the actual game display area, so integer scaling is my current workaround. I tried running the "stuck pixel fix" on Jayro's Test Cartridge.
My other Game Boy unit is a GBC with a smaller-than-original backlit aftermarket screen installed, and the integer scaling mode is still larger than the original display even without using all available pixels on the FPGBC, so that part is nice. The speaker is much less noisy than the GBC and has a higher max volume. I also get less noise on the headphone output, but the max headphone volume is lower, so that's a little disappointing when using LSDj for example. Running Jayro's Test Cartridge on both the FPGBC and the original GBC connected with a link cable shows that the link port appears to work both when hosting the test and when joining a test initiated on the GBC. Currently running a patched version of the v1.14 firmware. Overall it feels very much like a GBC with some mods. For most of the gaming and GB Studio game development I want to do I think it will perform pretty well, and I do appreciate USB-C recharging. It is just a little sad that there's no IR capability for doing Mystery Gift in Pokémon G/S/C.
Is there a fix or a good replacement for a GBL?
I had this Gameboy Light for a while now, but the dead pixels on the top kept bothering me, not to mention the weird splotches or something when the backlight is turned on, which in addition, the switch would take some weird schizo until the backlight turns on (i think it’s just dirty contacts or just bad switch). Are there any good replacements or a fix?
Got this gbc on Fb marketplace for $10 but there's a catch that I may need help with.
I snagged this for gbc for $10. Amazing. And it works.
2 problems with it though:
There are no screws for the outside shell. Does anyone know a decent place to buy replacements? Link?
The sound is laughably low. I haven't tried it with headphones yet. But the native speaker, I can just barely hear it. Any advice there?
Gameboy on an RLCD,
I have gotten a port of Peanut-GB running on an ESP-32 device I have with a 4.2" RLCD panel. Theres no audio yet but what does everyone think about making a handheld with a modern RLCD? The panel is not backlit and is only monochrome but still looks pretty cool using dithering to mimic the DMGs original 4 shades of gray. I was thinking about making a horizontal homage to the original gb with it. Ive got some parts on order to try and get some controls put together so I'll post an update if anyone is interested the project.
for those wanting to see it in motion theres a video on YouTube.
