I feel development is not challenging anymore, is just “an obligation” for 9to5 survival.

My first experiences with development, more than 10 years ago, has been as simple as creating plugins for Wordpress.

Nothing revolutionary, for example table reservation system for a restaurant, an interactive map for locals of a franchise, small things that made you plan and learn new stuff, aside development, on how business work and it needs.

After some time other types of requirements appeared, data management (learning about stored procedures was a pain), asynchronous functions, errors prevention, integrations with sharepoint and other third party systems which not necessarily rely on APIs.

Fastforwarding to current days, I feel like with all the Frameworks, AWS components, even AI getting answers in miliseconds, all of the “fun” of development and learning is totally gone, and I feel the 9to5 became a survival on pleasing management rather than showing your capabilities and problem solving skills.

Actually the problem solving part, I feel is not valuable anymore, as we don’t solve anything. at all, just slap new features so the stakeholders see a company as a potential investment.

Also with the “ship as fast as possible” mentality, we dont really pause and appreciate the outcome of the code, becuase time not invested in a new development is lost time.

I just want to confirm it’s just not me, that development nowadays has nothing to do with the oldschool ways of working, and we probably will never get back that “feeling” of overcoming ourselves.

As always, have a good one!

SuperChis not loading PKMN games, any other one works flawlessly

Hi! I've received yesterday my SuperChis Prime cartridge, tested with several games, most of them work flawlessly, but no matter what, I can't make any Pokemon game get working.

I've tried to writing to NOR Flash, tinkering with settings, but either It returns a white screen, or loads the title screen for a second and freezes.

I'm using it on a GB Micro with latest SuperFW.

Can't find any fix on the internet so far.

Thanks in advance!

It is possible to write a custom video to a GBA cartridge?

Hi community!

A quick question about GBA Video and cartridge writers. As I can't really find anything online.

I have a GBA Cartridge writer, and some "regular" cartridges I use to flash games, that part works all OK, but did not find any guide on how to prepare a video to be played like the cartoons or movies that have been once available.

I want to prank my friend, as we have this "competition" on rickrolling each other (with very ingenious ideas), and I want to prepare a rickroll video on a cartridge and "lend" him my GBA with the game so he could "play" ;-) it.

I have the GBAxCart, and some spare sram cartridges, but not sure if something "specific" is needed.

Thanks in advance for any info!

Tinkering with the label stickers meanwhile waiting for the SuperChis Prime to arrive.

It should be here next week, it will be my first flashcart ever.

Also, I lack a proper cutting tool for corners, if someone has any suggestions on how I can cut them with uniform border radius, right now they look blocky.

Will be reviewing the card once arrives!

After some time tinkering with Koillection, and found really hard to scrap data (has to do it manually for each volume), I gave up totally.

Hi Community!

I'm looking for some kind of tracker / library organizer of a physical collection for my mangas.

I own about 300 books, different series, some finished, some not, and want to track what's already in my collection, already happened twice that I forgot I own a volume in my collection, and ended up buying it twice when found a volume in the wild.

I mainly want a quick search capability, easy image cover scraper for visuals, and literally that's it.

Looking for alternatives only found projects in Alpha stage or abandoned/achieved ones.

Let me know if there is any hidden gem that I could try out, otherwise I'll need to dev something myself at this point.

Best!

So we all know Naruto is the most popular, however I’m baffled that the ninja topic is not so exploited, or even at all.

There are many animes about Samurais, Wizards, but not anything else on ninjas.

I even can understand that OnePiece has the main course on Pirates, but the topic is not that linked to Japan, not like ninjas.

What would be the second most popular ninja?

From struggling with text on image to generate literal manga scenes with zero struggle within a year. I did not even tinker with the prompt much, will keep an eye on that new model and it’s capabilities. peace!
