Career Advice for Chief Dealer at 23 Yr old
Hi everyone this is my first time posting. I graduated from university in 2025 (non-target). My first opportunity is in trading settlements for a small regional bank. Since then I worked hard to become Chief Dealer (Basically I make decisions and manage about how I trade my bank’s capital within an authorized limit) focused on money market and fixed income. I also am responsible for managing treasury and asset and liabilities meetings for leadership.
I am stuck between two crossroads. Are career in trading fixed income or treasury and liquidity management. I personally prioritize a career in trading as it’s the most mentally stimulating out of the two combined with higher compensation.
Combined with the fact I graduated from a non target school, work at a small regional bank, and too young to be considered for more senior roles. I feel like I’m stuck in “no mans land”.
I would be open to taking an analyst role at a top tier institution. Should I take any certifications or courses? What do I genuinely do? Thanks.
