Thoughts on the first poster in Alan's first dream

Hey everyone,

I sat down and typed out a long theory on the events of Alan Wake but decided to do this instead.

What are your thoughts on this poster? We see it in Alan's first dream before he wakes up with Alice in his car on the way to Bright Falls.

Personally, I think this poster answers most our our overarching questions about the Alan Wake universe and how we should interpret the story. I think if we look at it honestly we should say this:

  1. Alan Wakes Novel is first

  2. Thomas Zane is a filmmaker who wrote the Alan Wake Games as a movie called, "Tom the Poet."

  3. The purpose of the film is to show, "A terrifyingly strange dive....into the dark depths....of an artists mind." that mind being Alan Wakes but in some way relating to Tom the Poet.

So Alan Wake as a game is actually a film written and directed by Thomas Zane the filmmaker about Tom the Poet/Alan Wake."

This is why we always place Tom the Poet or Thomas Zane as being in the dark place first and writing Alan into reality so he can free himself from the dark place. The problem is, we only learn those details after we start the story of Alan Wake which this poster says is a film by Thomas Zane which is based on the novel by Alan Wake. So Alan Wake was first in sequence and then adapted by Thomas Zane to be a film that we technically play in the form of Alan Wake games.

What are your thoughts? I went down this road because Alan Wake 1 opens with Alan experience the dark place shadows/force in a dream which say, 'You created me like this." He then wakes up in the car only to experience Barbara Jagger at the diner which means he's already in a story. We can't determine what is reality because of these two things so I believe the whole game is a story itself.

Comments welcome! I am sure I've missed something!
