Why Southwest?
Please, I’m Having a hard time understanding why so many are obsessed with getting hired by SW. I get that their “pay is better” & they’re more “flexible”… but aside from being able to have tattoos & drop all your trips I don’t really get it.
I’ve been digging into it since I applied and I’m not sure it sounds as good as everyone makes it out to be…
I guess the company culture is something people like, but I honestly hate SW as a pax and actively avoid flying with them if I can. So why would working for them be enjoyable?
it seems like it’s mostly shorter flights, so multiple flights each day your working. Which is just a lot of up and down (like working for a regional with bigger planes & more pax to attend to)
Also, holding a line there doesn’t make sense? Once you hold a line you alternate back to reserve every other month until you are top 35% seniority? So what’s the point of getting to a seniority level to hold a line if you’re just gonna get flipped back on reserve?
The pay is better I guess( but really doesn’t look that significantly better), but the flight benefits are inferior. So even if you have flexibility to use your non rev for pleasure, you’re at the bottom of the barrel for getting a seat.
So what am I missing? Not sure if I should continue with the interview process
Also, I’m not trolling this is a throwaway account since I know some of y’all are gonna come fire me 😂
