Costco in Utah, a shopping cart by a cafe table doesn't save a seat

Went to Costco, ordered my hot dog, got my hot dog, put stuff on my hot dog, went to look for a seat. The only table available is one on the outside. It has a shopping cart full of items next to it. I know some people leave their carts out here because it's tough to get them inside the set of tables. Nothing else was on this table, no food items, no coat or anything on the chairs. For some reason I believed someone really thought they could save a table while they waited for their food. About 60 seconds into eating my food I was proven correct. An older man in his late 60's came by:

OM: Did you not see I have my cart there

ME: I did, but that doesn't save a seat

OM: Well I guess that's just some unwritten rule here

ME: Yes, first come first serve

OM: Well, I guess I will just come sit with you

ME: Perfectly fine, I only need one seat, there are three more here

OM: *walks off in a huff*

Edit: Entitled Boomer didn't even have his food yet. I likely would have been gone before he even got it, it doesn't take that long to eat a hot dog.

BD Diesel Exhaust Manifolds 5.3 2005

Just got my broken bolt's fixed and had the mechanic install the BD Diesel manifolds. The stock heat shields moved over perfectly. The manifolds come with longer bolts. The flange on the BD Diesel manifolds is probably twice the thickness of the stock manifolds. I'm not sure if it's the manifolds or the fact that I had an exhaust leak, but they sound really good. Even with factory Cat's and still factory cat back exhaust, it sounds much better, especially on start up.

Overheating?

2005 Sierra 150k miles 5.3

New GM water pump about 3 years ago and 15k miles. New thermostat at this time, can’t remember brand.

New radiator 2 years ago and about 8k miles, can’t remember what brand.

I was getting over heating while towing up a large hill, thought maybe I was just over working the truck, less then 3,000 pounds on trailer.

Had a shop put in a new GM thermostat and make sure there was no air in the system. I’m still over heating going up that same 6% grade without towing. It’s about 15 miles up the hill and temps got to 230-235F with 85F outside temp. At 70F temp sitting idle for about 20 min it got to 225F(this was before I replaced the thermostat at the shop) The moment I crest the hill temps drop to 195F quickly.

Could I have got a bad/cheap radiator? Looking at getting the Mishimoto model for around $700. Not sure what else could be the problem. I was hoping to get a little bit heavier RV but can’t if it’s going to over heat at 2500lbs even.

September 15th City Council Meeting Flock Camera Rules(Motorola Solutions ALPR)

The September 15th City council meeting will be discussing the changing of rules around SLC PD's access to the license plate data from the Flock style Motorola Solutions license plate readers. Here are some questions I plan to ask:

- If this is about catching criminals, why are there practically no cameras on the east side of SLC? The only one I can see on the Deflock app is at end of Foothill and one south of that on 3300 south just west of the 215. Do criminals not drive over on the east side of SLC?

- Why is getting a search warrant so onerous of a request when we got to see from the Reckless Ben saga how little actual probable cause you need to get one and that in our digital age it can take literal minutes to get one back(almost less time then it would take a judge to even read the whole probable cause affidavit)

- How do you plan to let citizens audit the access of these cameras or do you just expect us to trust that the police department is going to police themselves?

- How much money is being spent on these cameras and what services are being cut to rapidly expand this network? How much annually is being spent on licensing for them?

- Are we going to hold officers accountable for lazily using this data to falsely accuse innocent citizens like what happened to Christina Elser by Columbine Valley Texas Police? That cop had no other evidence that she was involved other then a license plate reader putting her vehicle in the city at the time the theft occurred. Yet he charged her with theft without any other evidence she was involved.

The chairman of the SLC council thinks this is already settled, that we are using these cameras, no matter what we as citizens think. Lets prove him wrong, lets let our voices be heard and MAKE SURE he isn't reelected.

Overheating issues

2005 1500 Sierra 5.3

-New Radiator

-Upgraded transmission cooler

- new AC delco water pump and thermostat

Towing up a 6% grade a small tent trailer at about 2200 pounds in 105F heat. Temp got to 235-240 before I pulled over and let it cool down. As soon as I made it over the summit it dropped. Am I expecting too much from a 1500? It’s missing a couple exhaust manifold bolts on each side, would that cause this? I’m wanting on new manifolds to get that fixed. There isn’t any dramatic ticking exhaust leak.

Skid Plates for the GMT800? 2005 Sierra

Anyone found skid plates for any of the GMT800 models? I keep looking and can't find anything. I've got the Z71 which comes with a decent skid plate for the oil pan and front, a plastic "skid" plate for the fuel tank. I'm close to designing my own and having a laser cut shop cut it out. Anyone done this already and have plans?

2005 4L60E B&M Deep Transmission Pan Install Tips

  1. Make sure you have the shallow pan filter. I believe the one I ordered was the deep pan filter, the B&M pan wouldn’t fit with the deep pan filter and extension included in the kit.

  2. Drop both cat Down pipes. You can get the stock pan out without doing so, you can’t get the B&M pan back in without dropping both. I was able to get the drivers side with a couple extensions, last one being a wobble and a deep socket with the impact after spraying both sides with penetrating lube. Both came off fairly easy.

  3. You have to find a way to glue on the gasket. I had high temp gasket maker on hand. Just a few dots all around to keep it in place.

  4. I had to use a jack to hold the pan all the way up in place before putting any bolts in. Tried a couple times holding it up and putting a couple in then going to the other side. I couldn’t ever get it all the way up and seated.
