Lost 2 kg after actually weighing my food for the first time

I used to weigh 80 kg, and now I weigh 78 kg. Before anyone says it, I realize it's probably water weight and other factors, but this is the first time my weight has truly decreased in a long time, and the reason is so ridiculous that I'm a little annoyed with myself. I never once looked at my caloric intake, even though I believed that I was eating a fairly healthy diet because everything was prepared at home, including proper meals, junk food, and fast food. I simply assumed that food prepared at home is safe. As it happens, it's not even close. The quantity of oil, serving sizes, random bites during cooking, and additional portions…

What actually changed things was I stopped relying on random AI estimates and just got Cronometer to track my calories. Once i started weighing and logging properly, everything clicked. exactly like some people say here, you think you’re in a deficit but you’re just not

i didn’t even do anything extreme. just made small changes at home gym and kitchen so i could stay consistent:

Cronometer

a cheap food scale (I’m using an Etekcity one, this humbled me real quick)

a rehab-style exercise bike (Merach) because my back is messed up

resistance bands for light workouts (basic ones like Fit Simplify)

meal prep boxes so I don’t just keep refilling my plate (Amazon)

one of those water bottles with markings (like HydroJug / motivational bottles from IKEA, sounds dumb but it helped)

It’s kind of frustrating because I feel like I could’ve figured this out way earlier but at the same time at least now I get it. If anyone else is in that phase where you feel like I’m eating clean but nothing is happening just track your food for a few days, it might be a very rude awakening.
