Is it worth rushing Prif solely for the crystal tools?

First time playing a main in nearly a decade. I’ve been an iron since 2014, recently came back to rs3 after the combat rebalance and wanted to try a fresh account to see all the early game again. In good/bad news, the account I have members on for some reason had already freshly gotten off tutorial island, so I couldn’t Ironman that one too, but I could infuse it with a ton of gp from dupes on my old maxed iron from years ago to at least give it some spending money and make some bad grinds like div a little easier with things like the dowser.
My question comes from the standpoint of invention/getting the better gathering tools. I understand I can get an elder rune/primal tool to be comparable, but is the jump to an augmented mattock of time/space THAT much better than an elder/primal mattock?
When those skills came out for me, I already had the dust due to it being nearly the best crafting method you could do for an iron, so I had tons. Now that I’m starting fresh again (and need it for the pick, hatchet, and mattock), I’m wondering if I should train the skills without the augments or just rush up to prif and get harping
