Roommate accidentally discharged a gun 5 days ago, I wasn’t told about it, I only found out today when I got an email from management about it. I didn’t know because I’ve been out of the country for over a week. 3 shots were accidentally fired through our wall into the neighbors apartment. I don’t know the time, how, what gun was used, why. All I know is that he did it and no one was home (THANK GOD) and no one was injured. He left a note on the neighbors door and neither I, police or apartment management was told. The neighbors saw and idk what interaction happened outside of that. Today I got an email of the lease violation, freaked out and called my roommate. He said it was his fuck up and that he’d take care of it but obviously this isn’t an “I’ll take care of it situation.” I managed to reach out to the complex immediately after receiving the email to confirm things and clarified that I wasn’t present, that I was sorry but also requesting if there is a way I wouldn’t be held liable given the situation. My main concern is not being evicted or at least not having an eviction on my record personal record. I threw in the possibility of him signing an affidavit because I know some charges or violations are going to be inevitably thrown out there.
