Identifying lost painting
Howdy gang, hoping this is appropriate here without an actual image. A scan of the rules didn’t seem to suggest it was required but please redirect me if I am mistaken.
Context: A dramatic scene painted on a carved wood canvas was passed through a few generations of my family. I fear I’ve lost it in a move and would like help being able to identify it. Our family lived in the southwest chicagoland during this time and that is likely where they would have come into it. I recall that it was actually painted in I believe the early to mid 1960s.
Description: art painted on carved wood. very green tones overall. it was part of a series. the scene was one of giant figures crumbling as they approach from a stormy shore. it looks as if after a battle with wreckage of wooden ships or chariots washing ashore. Almost fantasy vibe overall, though very dark and foreboding.
I remember finding it once by chance online long ago before I lost it but haven been able to turn it up since.
Thank you in advance for any assistance!
