Stumbled on to a free golf cart

We were driving around the neighborhood on our 89 Marathon a couple of weeks ago, and one of our neighbors had their golf cart parked in the street instead of the usual spot it sat in their yard. As we pulled up on it, my daughters saw a sign on it and said it was free… sure enough, it was out for the taking. Went home and grabbed a tow strap and pulled it home. It was probably flooded out during Helene a couple of years ago, it has a little rust on the frame , but the battery tray was toast. 2000 Series TXT.

Decided to pretty much totally rebuild, and it turned out great. I put on a 6 inch lift, and new 23 inch radial tires on these black wheels that I already had. Repainted the whole thing and changed out the rear bushings, added an LED light bar, new dash switchboard, re-covered the seats, etc. I wired it up and was getting a solenoid click but no power and after a few trials and errors I figured out that the f/r switch needed to be replaced. Besides that all of the electronics are fine . I had previously installed 100 ah 36v lithium battery into the marathon so I took it out and put it into this. Top speed is about 23 mph on flat terrain, way faster than my resistor coil Marathon (18) with the same battery. I was shocked when i finally got it moving. We have a new family cart now, not sure what I’m gonna do with the old marathon. Don’t really need two carts, but hard to let her go.
