What’s wrong with this meal?

I’m pretty new to trying the low histamine diet, and I was hoping someone could please help me figure out what was wrong with the meal I ate last night.

- Pork ribs (previously frozen, sold fresh at store and stored for two days in my fridge before grilling)
- dry rub (salt, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, a little smoked paprika)
- plain corn on the cob

I knew some of the ingredients might be problematic, which is why I only added a little. I also tried not to store the ribs in the fridge too long. I don’t usually have a strong reaction, but I was so on edge and couldn’t sleep last night.

Any tips? I’m having a really hard time with this diet and I’m afraid to season my food with anything now.

Burning Full Body Pain?

I’m on a quest to figure out what the heck is wrong with me and am looking into HIT and MCAS.

Does anyone else experience a full-body, burning pain sensation when they have a flareup? I don’t get much itching, although my scalp and back tend to be itchy quite often. The burning is the biggest clue when I messed up and maybe ate something I shouldn’t have.

I’m considering histamine intolerance because I get burning pain, dizziness, fatigue, and brain fog when I have collagen supplements, probiotics, kombucha, and superfood blends and the symptoms tend to ease when I stop taking those, though never fully. Is there a way to actually reverse HIT or do people have to avoid foods forever?

I also have relatively low iron (45) and am working to raise that.

These are my other symptoms when I’m having a bad flareup (although some are pretty constant)

- dizziness (constant)
- brain fog
- fatigue
- migraines
- anxiety/depression
- tired but wired
- cold intolerance
- nerve sensitivity
- sinus/face/head pressure
- chest tightness
- muscle stiffness
- low exercise tolerance (feels like sharp pain after)
- insomnia
- Etc.

Iron Supplement Masking Symptom Improvement?

I have been taking an iron supplement for IDWA for over a year now. I switched forms and doses a few times, but I have been on ferrous bisglycinate 54mg daily for about 3 months now.

Is it possible that taking an iron supplement masks symptom improvement? It’s hard to tell if it feels like my ferritin is rising at all because I have felt the same for a long time.

My next test is early June and my last ferritin level was 41. I had previously felt a little better when it had risen to 48, but I’m not noticing any improvement this time even on double the dose.

I feel like I should be past the initial adjustment period, but I wonder if I’ll feel even better when I’m finally able to stop taking iron and my ferritin is around 100.

My nervous system is extremely sensitive for some reason, most likely due to chronic iron deficiency. Im wondering if I’m sensitive to the supplement itself. I typically have strong reactions to weather shifts, hormonal changes, high histamine foods, allergies, poor sleep, stress, etc. They all worsen my brain fog, sinus/head pressure, fatigue, vertigo, chest tightness, insomnia, mood swings, blurred vision, cold sensation/poor circulation, nerve sensitivity, muscle stiffness, etc.

Worse Seasonal Allergies?

Does anyone else feel like their seasonal allergies are way worse when their ferritin is low?

I discovered that I developed a pretty bad histamine intolerance with food since becoming really iron deficient, but I wonder if there is a connection to seasonal allergies too.

My vitamin D is upper normal - I had heard that affects allergy response too, and I used to be borderline deficient.

Has anyone noticed an improved response to seasonal allergies when you raised your ferritin?

It feels like my ferritin isn’t rising at all cause my allergies are making everything so much worse - dizziness, brain fog, chest tightness, fatigue, you name it. 😫

There’s nothing more difficult than trying to explain to your doctor that you have perfect vision, yet you can’t “see”.

I have 20/10 vision, but it feels like I sort of have tunnel vision all the time. Like I have poor peripheral vision and can’t see unless the room is completely lit, and my eyes won’t register things. I don’t know how to describe it, but does anyone else feel this way with anemia or IDWA?

It’s almost like I’m looking through sunglasses but not just in a dark way, like the full resolution isn’t there. This only started when my symptoms exploded from IDWA. Not sure how else to describe it but it’s so weird. It’s worse on days when the brain fog and dizziness are worse, so I’m assuming something to do with poor oxygen delivery.

🥲
