VA Claim and MEPS

Good Afternoon!

I recently separated from the Air Force and have an intent to file on the books that will expire come October. I am working with a ANG unit that has been slow rolling my application process, and was obviously unable to get me pulled over before I separated. So now I have to go through the whole civilian to military process again.

I was recommended to avoid filing for disability until after I was onboarded by the unit/got through the MEPS examination. However, the recruiter is now telling me that because “MEPS and the VA talk so if you get cleared at MEPS it will affect your VA rating”.

At this point should I still hold off on filing, or should I just file now since it’ll come up regardless when I go through MEPS?

Feels like if I wait, I could get into the unit fine but then screw myself out of disability, and if I do it now my disability will be prioritized but getting back in could be a struggle.

Thanks for the help!

One boot won’t shine

Hello everyone!

Been attempting to shine my boots, which on the one has gone fairly well with a horsehair brush. I recently (1 month) had them shined professionally, and wanted to keep up the shine, but the one boot was not shining no matter how much I tried. I put a small amount of leather conditioner on the suspect boot, and attempted again for about an hour or so with the brush to no avail.

Do I need to just brush it longer, or did I put too much on and now I should work on getting it off? (Tips on the latter would be appreciated as well!)
