Anyone else think the Steam Deck performance of the PAYDAY 2 Diesel Engine 3.0 update slightly improves the chances of a modern console port?

Hear me out.

The Steam Deck is running the update surprisingly well. From what I've seen, it can hit around 60 FPS on High settings, with a lot of people choosing to lock it to 40 FPS for smoother frame pacing and better battery life.

That got me thinking.

If Diesel 3.0 can run that well on a Steam Deck, then a port to current-gen consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S should have more than enough horsepower to handle it. Obviously, that's not the same thing as saying a port is happening—there's a huge difference between can and will.

The biggest obstacle has probably never been the hardware. It's whether Starbreeze thinks it's worth the development time to bring years of PC updates over to modern consoles.

I'm not saying this is evidence that a port is in development. It's probably just me coping because I'd love to see the complete PC version on PS5 and Xbox Series consoles with 60 FPS, all the content, and cross-progression (if we're really dreaming).

Still... seeing the engine run well on lower-powered hardware gives me a little more hope than I had before.

Am I reading too much into this, or does anyone else think the technical side of a current-gen port looks more realistic now than it did a few years ago?

Edit: Added Diesel 3.0 explicitly
