I have an original 3DS XL that I'm interested in fixing. My little brother snapped the top screen off completely a number of years ago. I know I would need a new screen and shell, but that's not what my question is about.

The bottom half USED to charge and power on just fine, but now it doesn't. The charging light still comes on when I plug it in and it starts to boot up when I press the power button (blue light and all), but as soon as the screen turns on it flickers and shuts right back off.

What could this issue be? I'm not too experienced in 3DS diagnostics or repairs, so I need some help finding out what the issue is and how to fix it.
