I bought the New 3DS XL on launch day just for the Xenoblade Chronicles 1 port. I enjoyed it a lot, but I was never really a big fan of the console because it felt pretty uncomfortable to me and I thought I wouldn’t like its games that much. Truth is, I was more of a PS Vita user back then - I loved that handheld- so I stopped using the 3DS for years.

Recently I modded it after the eShop closed, and it’s basically shown me a completely different console. There are tons of community ports and modded games that add dual-screen support (like Minish Cap). More than anything, it’s made me realize how much I love the dual screens and the versatility they offer.

But yeah, in the end I’m enjoying it a ton right now. I’m currently 10 hours into Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology (I love RPGs) and I hope to keep playing all the games I missed out on over these years.

I saw that someone had just listed this 3DS on Facebook Marketplace for $30, so I messaged them immediately! I honestly didn’t expect a response since deals like this tend to sell pretty fast, but to my surprise, they replied and said it was still available. So, of course, I ended up getting it!
It’s in excellent condition, apart from a small internal crack on the upper right corner of the top shell. But honestly, the inside is in such great condition and it comes with the Mario so, I don’t mind the little crack at all!
Anyways, I’m so happy with my purchase! I don’t usually post in this subreddit, but I thought I’d share since I’m feeling pretty lucky right now! :)

My family only had a wii, so growing up I never experienced 3ds and what is it like. I recently got it from ebay 2nd hand and i got to decorate it with stickers!! I'm having so much fun playing games and customising everything :)

got this baby about a year ago now, and I'm happy to have been able to give it a new life. The bottom screen is pretty badly scratched but it doesnt bother me as much as it should lmao. She was nasty coming in from ebay, orange/brown goop all in the cracks, the X button was sticky for months. I have plans to eventually swap out the buttons and the screen, but all in due time. Currently playing pokemon x/y with my husband, i have x, he has y, and we're having an absolute blast!

Purchased in perfect condition at a great price. Is it real or a reshell before I do a system transfer from my old console? Thanks!

I always liked these Super Mario Maker New 3DS variants and today had the chance to pick one up at an expo. I'm no expert and didn't find a ton of info available so I wanted to confirm what I think I know:

This variant was only sold as a complete console in Japan. In the U.S. you could only buy the plates. I don't think the console is modded or region swapped and is a North American version. Does that mean someone bought a standard 3DS and added these plates?

Is there a way to confirm they are official? They do say Nintendo on the inside so am I correct they are legit?

The person was asking $300 and took my offer of $250. Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay and I love it either way, but just curious if you think that was a fair deal? Seems to be in fantastic condition.

Met up with a really cool seller on FB yesterday and picked it up for $200. He mentioned he was looking to get the Ayn Thor and I’m really enjoying this one and going through the games today!

So much love for this design. I even love the screw bumps that I did trying to resurrect it from ground up!

Hi all,

I am not the most skilled when it comes to tech, but I recently started playing on my new 3dsXL after years of it sitting away.

I noticed today when I picked it up, it looks like the case has melted a bit(?) and the back is a bit bigger.

Now immediately I worried that it was the battery (I have experience with laptop batteries being a time bomb) and that I would have to replace it

There seems to be a weird indent too where the scratch is, I have never noticed it before today. If anyone has any advice on weather I should replace the battery or any way to replace the back please let me know!

Hello all, just wanted to have a discussion and get some general impressions on whether people prefer the smaller, more portable versions of these consoles (3DS/N3DS) or the larger versions that provide better ergonomics and larger screens (3DS XL/ N3DS XL)

Personally, I think I prefer the larger option just due to it being more comfortable to hold and easier to see the screens from a comfortable distance.
