Help me escape some of my debt after son had lengthy stay in hospital for liver transplant
Hi, my name is Cody! In April 2024, my life changed when my 8-month-old son was admitted to SickKids Hospital in Toronto to wait for a liver transplant. What followed was the most difficult year of our lives. I stayed by his side every day, unable to work, focused entirely on his care and hoping for the call that would save him.
During that time, I exhausted my savings, relied on EI, and used credit just to keep up with basic living expenses like rent, bills, and food while staying in Toronto. It was a year of survival, both emotionally and financially.
Thankfully, I am now back at work, and my son’s journey has moved forward. (He received a liver transplant in September 2024) However, the financial impact of that year is something I am still struggling to recover from. Despite working again, it has been incredibly difficult to catch up on the debt that built up during that time.
I am asking for support to help raise $4,000 to relieve some of the financial burden left from that period. Every contribution, no matter the size, will go directly toward paying down debt and helping me regain stability after everything we’ve been through.
