ADDIE Principles

Many of us lean on our workflows in instructional design. They keep things organized and help us handle complex projects. But if we rely on the steps without holding on to the principles beneath them, our work can get shaky when things change.

Principles stay steady even when tools shift.
Take ADDIE. At its core, you analyze the need, design around that need, then look at what worked. That holds up whether the training is in a room, online, or built with AI tools.

The same idea applies to Tell Show Do Review. People still learn by watching an example, trying it, and getting feedback.

Workflows help, but they are not the principle. If we follow steps without understanding the reason behind them, we lose the flexibility to adjust. Tools evolve. Human learning does not.

In your own work, what principles stay steady for you as AI and new tools reshape how we design and deliver training?
