How are your factions alerted to intruders?

Aside from guards, I mean. I have some gnolls holing up in the southeastern wing of a ruined castle, waiting for their wizard creator, Hylariath the Bastard, to return after he stepped out for a pouch of tobacco. They're too lazy to keep a strictly regimented watch though and I'd like them to have rigged points of entry with various (obvious) alarm systems instead - a door with the hinges removed that falls over with a clamor when pushed or pulled, a slightly ajar door with a bucket of water or flask of oil on top. I'm hitting a creative wall though and would love to crowdsource some ideas or inspiration.

The Ruins of Castle Bāndūn first draft

The shaded areas imply a ceiling, other areas of the castle are exposed to the sky. I wanted to include the debris because some open-air sections of the castle have been excavated by current and previous factions, but I'm worried it's too "noisy." Thoughts or suggestions?

Edit: also the big shaded part in the throne room (center east) is a chasm, I'll probably just shade it darker for contrast

Inking Advice

Hello, I haven't really inked a map before. I love how inked maps look, but I don't wanna do it over of my pencil and ruin it if I mess up. Any advice for tracing this onto a new sheet? Inking tips? Map feedback also welcome. Thanks in advance!!

Edit: Thanks again y'all. it's 8.5x11 so I'll try scanning it first. I worry about it coming out too faint, but I'll try a photo if that's the case. I'll invest in a lightbox if those methods end up not working!
