The new tax rebate for new builds sounds nice, but if a buyer has to get approved by a lender for the price before the HST rebate, what is the point for all those struggling to buy smaller homes like condos and towns? I guess it's just a rebate for those who need it the least--they could already buy big detached homes without difficulty because they have assets and high net worth?
I have been paying half of the marital home that I can't live in because my STBX is not safe. I cannot afford the debt it's creating, not to mention legal/mediation costs. There are delays and more delays for a separation agreement. He wants to buy me out, but I can't keep paying while I wait for a day when he may be approved for a solo mortgage ... or not. Is it acceptable to say that if we can't make an agreement during the next mediation, I will have no choice but to ask the court to force the sale to a 3rd party? I can't move back in because it's not safe.
