[PC][2006-2010] Tactical FPS with green glowing names over squadmates, minefield and crocodile mission, oil platform attack, plane hangars

Platform: PC

Genre: First-person shooter / Tactical shooter

Estimated year of release: 2006-2010 (graphics were noticeably better than Call of Duty 2 from 2005, but worse than Battlefield: Bad Company 2 from 2010).

Graphics/art style: Realistic (not cartoonish), set in modern times. Locations included deserts, jungles, villages, and an ocean oil platform.

Notable characters: You played as a special forces soldier. You could give orders to your squadmates using the F1-F4 keys. You could NOT switch to control other squad members. When you aimed at your allies, their real first and last names appeared in glowing green text above their heads. The game was developed by a Western studio (not Russian).

Notable gameplay mechanics:

  • The health system was arcade-style (you could take several hits, not realistic 1-2 shot kills like in Rainbow Six or Operation Flashpoint).
  • You could blow up cars with regular assault rifle fire.
  • The only throwable weapons were frag grenades and flashbangs.
  • Many vehicles had mounted turrets that you could use as a passenger, but you could not drive them yourself.

Specific missions I remember:

  1. Oil Platform: The mission starts with your team approaching an ocean oil platform on small boats. You board it and destroy weapons of mass destruction.
  2. Minefield & Crocodile: Your team clears a village and destroys a weapon depot. Then two squadmates drive you to a minefield in a vehicle and leave. After surviving the minefield, you have to swim across a small river where crocodiles attack you.
  3. Plane Hangars: A mission where you need to capture a weapon arsenal. There is a dirt airstrip with two hangars. The arsenal is between them. Friendly forces are trying to secure a plane on the strip while enemies attack from all sides.
  4. Helicopter Insertion: You fly into a city on a helicopter, shooting terrorists with AKs and RPGs, and land on a rooftop to clear a building.

Multiplayer: The game had an online mode, but it was shut down due to low popularity.

It is NOT any of these games: Call of Duty series, Battlefield: Bad Company, Specnaz: Project Wolf, Operation Flashpoint, ARMA, Brothers in Arms, Rainbow Six: Vegas, SWAT, Conflict series, SOCOM, Hidden & Dangerous, Vietcong, Crysis, Terrorist Takedown, Battlestrike, Commandos: Strike Force, Global Operations, Joint Operations, or Full Spectrum Warrior.

Thank you for your help!
