How bad is the CN ROM on the X9 Ultra really?

As the title mentions, I'm currently using an older Oppo with CN ROM and I know that notifications are really bad, sometimes coming bundled all at once, sometimes not at all until you open the app, even with all startup and battery settings changed specifically.

Some UI quirks, not being able to get rid of Chinese apps and settings completely, random stuff enabling and disabling at will, the list goes on.

Now, I want to upgrade and specifically went to Hong Kong to buy the new ultra. Color me surprised and immensely disappointed when I found out the phone is completely sold out everywhere, and will not be in stock for the next 1-2 months.

I am now tempted to either fly to another country to buy it for an immensely more expensive price or perhaps getting the Chinese ROM after all. My current replacement phone is about to die...

What has your experience been with the CN ROM and what would you recommend?

Hangout is dysfunctional without this feature

I wanted to use hangouts like usual and noticed you can only choose some vague categories for what you want to do. We are planning a fishing evening today and just want people to immediately know what's up and being able to join, by seeing the hangout title.

Do you now have to join everyone's hangout, hope they accept, then ask what they want to do?

How do we do that now? That seems like an insanely bad change, by someone who never used hangouts in their life.

Cheapest possible option to get the 16 GB 512 GB version?

I am in Southeast Asia right now and have the option to relatively cheaply get packages form China or even go there myself.

It seems like Hong Kong will not have the 16 GB 512 GB version, instead opting for the lesser one or the high end super expensive one.

The Chinese one I don't want with the Chinese ROM issues.

Malaysia and Thailand seem to hover around 1700-2100 Dollars, which is very expensive.

What would be the best option and country to get the phone in right now?
