I don’t know what kind of copium OPPO executives are smoking right now, but they are genuinely cooked.

European pricing for the Find X10 lineup just hit, and these numbers are actually unhinged:

• Find X10 (256GB): €1,399
• Find X10 (512GB): €1,599 (up ~60% vs the X9, make it make sense)
• Find X10 Pro Max (512GB): €1,799

Yeah, on paper the spec sheet looks like someone’s wet dream:

• That ridiculous "600MP" camera gimmick (3x 200MP sensors on wide, tele, ultrawide)
• 2nm Dimensity 9600 Pro on the Pro Max
• Giant 7,150 mAh battery with 80W charging

Cool story, but who cares?

I don't care if this phone can shoot 8K RAW while doing my taxes. Asking €1,800 for an OPPO phone in Europe is straight-up dead on arrival.

Who is skipping an iPhone Pro Max or an S26 Ultra to drop nearly two grand on ColorOS, knowing the resale value will plummet off a cliff in 8 months?

Slapping three 200MP sensors on a phone doesn't automatically mean you get to charge Apple-tier luxury prices. They completely lost the plot.

I'm thinking of buying an Oppo Find X9 Ultra. Alternatively I‘m considering the Vivo X300 Ultra or Pro.
I would be happy if you can share your experiences:

My main interest is taking macros of insects and plants and taking zoom pictures of birds in the field.

Battery life:
During an excursion in the field I can easily take 600-1000 pictures over 6-8 hours. Is this feasabile? How much battery drainage can I expect?

Handling & Autofocus:
How easy is it to take quickly lots of these pictures while hiking through rough terrain (opening of the camera app, one hand shooting, etc.)?
How reliable is the autofocus for macros of insects and plants and how reliable for flying birds?

I’ve daily driven both phones. Here is the straightforward take without any BS.

​Camera Comparison

​Main Sensor: Vivo takes this comfortably with better detail and dynamic range. Having a native 35mm focal length is great for natural framing.. on the Oppo, I was constantly cropping to 35mm to get that same look.

​Ultrawide: Vivo has better corner sharpness, cleaner textures, and more consistent colors.

​Zoom & Periscope: Oppo looks better on paper with a dedicated 10x periscope, but it's really only usable in daylight and falls off quickly. Vivo matches that range via sensor crop, and its telephoto is much better optimized and stable in low light despite a slower f-stop.

​Optics & Lens Quality: Vivo uses proper Zeiss glass lenses with clean light transmission. Oppo uses cheaper lenses that cause noticeable chromatic aberration (color fringing) around high-contrast edges.

​Speed & Autofocus: Vivo has zero shutter lag and locks focus instantly. Oppo has noticeable shutter lag, hunts for focus often, and can produce inconsistent colors from shot to shot.

​Video: Vivo is noticeably ahead in daylight, low light, and stabilization.

​Camera UI & Exposure Controls: Oppo has a dedicated on-screen exposure slider in auto mode which is super convenient. On Vivo, you're forced to tap-to-focus first just to adjust brightness. However, Oppo's overall camera UI feels laggy and tries too hard to mimic an iPhone.

​Pro / Street Modes: Oppo’s Master Mode is better than Vivo's street photography mode, offering deeper and more granular manual controls.

​Gallery & Editing: Vivo’s built-in editor has great manual depth, enough that you won't need Lightroom. Oppo's native editor lacks solid manual tools, forcing you to export to third-party apps.

​Other Areas

​Display: Both look good indoors, but Vivo is visibly much brighter under direct sunlight.

​Speakers & Haptics: Vivo’s speakers get louder and slightly clearer. The haptics are a bit tighter and punchier.

​Software (ColorOS vs. OriginOS): ColorOS (both Global and CN versions) is significantly better than OriginOS. OriginOS feels sluggish, inconsistent, and childish in places. ColorOS is clean, fluid, and mature.

​Battery Life: The Oppo comfortably lasts longer through heavy daily use.

​Ergonomics & Balance: Vivo is top-heavy. Oppo balances its weight properly across the chassis, making it much easier to hold and use with one hand.

​The Verdict

​Buy the Vivo X300 Ultra if you prioritize camera performance, video, a brighter outdoor screen, and better speakers. Between the 35mm lens, proper glass optics, zero shutter lag, and a built-in editor that replaces Lightroom, it's the more capable imaging tool.

​Buy the Oppo Find X9 Ultra if you want the best overall daily driver. It has its share of camera flaws (cheaper lenses, fringing, focus hunting), but with top-tier battery life, balanced ergonomics, and a vastly superior OS, it’s easily the best overall Ultra phone released this year and the one that will actually make you happy using it every day.

Firstly, this bitch is heavy! iPhone weighed 171g and Find x9 weighs 224g. It doesn't sound like much of a difference but when scrolling in bed my hands can definitely feel it 😂 although it makes sense with the monster lenses.

Secondly, while I'm sure it's much better than it used to be, it is a lot of faff switching everything over from iPhone to Android. Most of my photos were stored in iCloud so had to go through the transfer request to Google Photos. Didn't take as long as some people have said (even with 25k photos & videos) but still waiting on the metadata to copy over. It also seems like if I want to store a copy of photos or videos in Google photos on my device it's another whole faff. Haven't decided what to do about that yet.

I'm sure if I stayed with android in future it would be more straight forward but I'm coming from the zero effort of Apple copying over from one iPhone to another. It's taken me a while to go through everything and make sure things have copied over, sorting out new cloud storage and figuring out which apps for things I like best.

You can't add Apple products to Google Find My. This is a bit of a pain because I have airpods and a MacBook, is there an easier way to centralise all device locations?

The share with iPhone feature has not once picked up my iPhone. I've had Bluetooth on both devices switched on and appear for everyone setting on iPhone switched on. I've had to download O+ connect on iPhone which does work. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Not ideal to ask someone to download an app just to share a photo.

The camera is the reason why I bought the phone (and also cause f**k apple) and I've switched to master mode and I'm excited to try it out on my travels to central America next week!

It will take a few weeks to get used to the unfamiliar OS but so far I'm glad I made the switch! (Despite my complaining above)

Any tips to help the transition easier or getting the best out of my new phone are welcomed!

Im looking to buy a new phone and the oppo is looking like a good choice but I cant find a good price for the x9 pro thats not a chinese one but what is the actual difference between the 2 and if anyone knows of any good places to buy the x9 pro either new or like a really good quality that would be great 😁😁

So, I’ve been seeing some of the ColorOS 17 features on the Find X10 Pro Max, and I absolutely love them. I was wondering, when ColorOS 17 releases for the X9 Ultra, will it have the exact same OS features, animations, UI, etc.?
