My favorite build of 2026?

This is my 60th build of the year so far, and I can tell you it’s currently my favorite kit. It’s a kit that truly impressed me; it has many strengths and, in my opinion, practically no flaws. The materials look and feel high-quality, the joints are solid, and the assembled model is incredibly stable (I even managed to pose it standing on one leg without any kind of base). From a distance: it has great shelf presence; up close: it amazes with all its intricate details. I love the design of the rifle and the shield. It doesn't go overboard with gimmicks or accessories. The articulation is good in the upper body but a bit lacking in the lower body; the thrusters restrict leg flexion, though the ankles offer good flexibility.

With just a few minor touches, I managed to customize the figure to my personal taste. I used the dry-brushing technique on the inner frame and applied weathering using black and silver acrylics. I also highlighted certain details with red paint and a chrome marker. At some point, I’d like to install an LED light in the eye, but that’s a project for another time.

Honestly, I’m thrilled with this build. Although my expectations weren't particularly high, it has easily surpassed other Bandai MG kits that previously held top spots in my rankings. I have the REGUS waiting in my backlog, but since the construction of the arms, torso, waist, and legs is virtually identical to the GUS, I’m going to hold off on building it for a while, though I’m already excited about it.

The Witch From Mercury Lineup Complete!!!

I’ve just finished building the Gundam Calibarn, and with that, I’ve completed the entire *TWFM* lineup! Except for the Zowort Heavy, which I can't find anywhere; the listings I see on eBay are always at ridiculous prices.

I started back in February by building the Gundam Lfrith, and from there, I worked my way through kits #01 to #25 in their release order. Along the way, I alternated with the Suletta Figure-rise Standard kit and a few P-Bandai kits, such as the Gundnode and the Heingra. I still have the rest of the P-Bandai exclusive kits left to build, but that’s a story for another day.

I’m incredibly happy with this project; it took me nearly four months to complete, building two or three kits a week during the night while my baby slept. The kits in this line have been the most satisfying High Grades I’ve ever built: a diverse range of models, excellent color separation, almost no stickers, and, above all, absolutely stunning once finished.

Does anyone else love this line as much as I do?

Do you guys completely finish your builds before jumping to the next one?

What I enjoy most is the actual building process; often, once I’ve finished assembling a kit, I just put it on a base in a nice pose and never touch it again (except to rotate them when new kits arrive). I’m pretty lazy when it comes to finishing touches, but finally, after sitting on a shelf for months, this MG Sinanju got its panel lining, decals, and top coat. The difference is remarkable; the clear matte top coat makes it stop looking like a toy and gives it so much more presence (and let's not even talk about what some good weathering can do—I don't want to go down that rabbit hole). The thing is, while I really enjoy the final result, I find the process itself a bit tedious. Now, the last kit I built was the Sinanju Stein Ver.Ka, and I’m wondering if, to motivate myself to finish it, I should force myself to complete it entirely (decals and top coat included) before starting a new one. 🤔
