I understand it is somewhere in their teen years, but if one didn’t have the chance for it, could you still do it once they’re adults?

Mind you, with their partner and when no one else is at home

I (25M) have a mother who is constantly dealing with financial problems. Over the past year, I bought her car and gave her around $9k to help cover different debts, but new problems keep coming up and she asks me for help every time. At this point, helping her, I’ve basically burned through my savings and am now living paycheck to paycheck myself.

Now she told me she ows the bank around $144k, and somehow managed to reduce it to $14k. The problem is that because of her credit history, she can’t get a loan to pay it off, so she’s expecting me to go into debt instead.

This situation stresses me out constantly because I’m not only trying to save and build a future for myself, but I also feel responsible for fixing my mother’s financial problems — problems that honestly seem endless and never really improve.

I love my mom and I want to help her, but I’m starting to feel like I’m drowning with her. I don’t know where the line is between helping family and ruining your own financial future. Has anyone else dealt with something like this?
