Hey GTA community, writing this as a serious warning if you’re shopping for a used or Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) car at Audi Uptown Markham.

Looking for advice and shared experiences from the Ontario automotive and consumer community regarding a recent Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) purchase.

Approximately two weeks ago, I purchased a 2023 Audi Q8 under the Audi Certified :plus program from Audi Uptown Markham for roughly $67K all-in.

Timeline and Facts:

• Day 6 after delivery: The vehicle suffered a complete loss of motive power while driving on the road and was towed back to the dealership’s service department.
• Diagnosis: Service management and Audi Canada subsequently confirmed that the engine suffered catastrophic internal failure and requires a full long-block replacement.
• No formal diagnostic report: As of today, the dealership has not provided any formal written technical report detailing the root cause of the engine failure.
• No Repair Order (RO) or written authorization: I have not signed a Repair Order (RO) or a written estimate authorizing engine replacement work. However, the dealership confirmed they have already ordered the replacement engine assembly.
• Pre-sale diagnostic data: I requested the pre-sale ODIS diagnostic scan logs in writing to understand the vehicle’s diagnostic history prior to purchase. The dealership management declined to provide these records.
• Resolution offered: The dealership declined to unwind the sales contract or issue a refund. When I asked about replacing the vehicle with another unit, management stated I would be responsible for paying the price difference out of pocket.

I have retained written email records of all communications, including Audi Canada's confirmation regarding the engine replacement and the dealership's response regarding the pre-sale diagnostic logs.
