Follow-up to my post from Thursday regarding load development with Brass Monkey Bullets 150gr coated FP’s and Viht N320 out of a 4” Langdon Px4 Carry Optics gun.

Original testing Thursday was:
- 2.8gr @ 1.125”
- 3.0gr @ 1.125”
- 3.2gr @ 1.125”
Then this morning I tested:
- 3.3gr @ 1.125”
- 3.4gr @ 1.125”

Still didn’t get the results that I wanted, so I went back home, caved in and shortened up the load to 1.1” and boom, single digit SD’s and making power factor no problem.

150gr 9mm Load Dev… What Next?

Working up a load with Brass Monkey Bullets 150gr flat point coated lead projectiles, targeting roughly 850-860 FPS to make a comfortable USPSA power factor (128-129 PF).
Current load ladder:
- OAL: 1.125”
-Powder: N320
- 2.8gr
- 3.0gr
- 3.2gr
- Brass: Mixed once-fired
- Primer: CCI 500

As I see it, I’ve got two options from here:
Shorten OAL to around 1.100” and reshoot
Probably just test 3.0gr and 3.2gr again since 2.8gr likely won’t make PF anyway

Leave everything as-is and bump powder slightly
Thinking 3.3gr and 3.4gr would probably get me into that 850 FPS range

Obviously, using less powder would be ideal if shortening the OAL gets me there, but I’m not sure a .015” reduction is enough to make up the difference.

Curious what others would do here. Anybody have experience with N320 + 150gr coated bullets in this velocity range?
