Guess which is newer, the trolleybus or the tram? And which design do you like better?

Newest trolleybuses are now out on the streets of Yerevan
Some of the 45 newly-bought Chinese trolleybuses are now serving route S1 (previously 1). "S" as in "T" in Armenian stands for "trolleybus". They're finally addressing the issue that we have buses and trolleybuses with the same numbers. These vehicles can operate on batteries, so the route was slightly extended to serve Dzoraghbyur suburb.
The 45 new trolleybuses are set to replace the 27 old LiAZ vehicles. So, in addition to the 30 previously bought units, the number of the trolleybuses in Yerevan will increase from 57 to 75. It's very nice to see Yerevan investing in its trolleys rather than going the easy route and replacing them with gas buses.
