PSA: there's no wrong way to play guitar
I feel like I see so many threads asking "is it cheating to do X" or "am I doing it wrong" or some variation thereof.
If the instrument produces sound that you enjoy, then you're doing it exactly right.
One of the universally-agreed-upon greatest guitarists of all time literally played with his teeth and also set his guitar on fire in the middle of a show.
There is no wrong way to play
