I've been diagnosed with Vasovagal Syncope for 5yrs now and I've been having to fight for doctors to even consider listening to me.
I'm 19 and often stereotyped by doctors for several reasons (old sh scars, queer, female, age etc.) I do also live in a fairly conservative and smaller populated area with few doctors to choose from. I have had success with doctors close to where I'm located but unfortunately I am no longer able to see them since they were pediatricians.
I'm often referred to a therapist for my medical problems even though I'm already seeking therapy for my actual mental health problems which are being treated. My therapist and my past therapist have gotten frustrated because what's happening isn't mental health based (though my anxiety does affect it negatively)
I need to figure out how to get the help I need but it isn't simple at all and it's pretty discouraging and sad especially when medical professionals who are SUPPOSED to be informed and help refuse to listen and continuously make assumptions without even attempting to look into the issue.
My health is getting increasingly worse to the point I'm hardly able to function at times and I need to take action now before it gets even worse. Why aren't the doctors listening and what can I do differently to find the treatment I actually need?
