Which one of you clowns were able to get that terrible picture of Brad at the very front of images when you search his name??

It’s usually the Wikipedia picture that shows up first, but in this case, said Wikipedia image shows up 2nd. The very first one that pops up if you google his name (without clicking on images yet) is perhaps one of the worst pictures of him in existence. It’s from the April 15th,1995 show at the Wetlands Preserve Nightclub in New York, when he was newly sober (well, sober from the hard stuff, he was still drinking), and looked absolutely MISERABLE.

Shit, you may as well of just posted the very last image of him ever taken, the night before he passed. And no, I ain’t even gonna post that pic. I feel like that was intentionally done. Which is strange, bc it’s usually famous people’s wikipedia pics that are the most unflattering.

And I know you are out there. Someone with the ability to do that CERTAINLY has a Reddit account. It’s also strange bc if you click on images AFTER you google his name, that image (from the 1995 Wetlands show) is nowhere to be found. The Wikipedia picture is the 1st one. Point being, you are kind of a chode for doing that. Bc someone CERTAINLY intentionally put that image as the first one that shows up when you search his name. Weak af.

10 minutes with Brad video on the tube.

Just saw this video earlier, and thought it was pretty cool. I haven't searched for Sublime vids on the tube in YEARS, but I’m on a serious Sublime run again after I rediscovered the “Memories” show a few weeks back, listening to it non-stop. I lost the iPhone I had that epic show on it years back, and hadn’t listened to much Sublime since the early Covid days.

But I woke up the day after I heard "Figueroa" on the new album for the 1st time and found the “Memories” show 10 minutes later while dropping a deuce (called “$5.00 at the Door” now). I can’t believe I went into the new album 100% completely blind after iTunes had recommended it to me, and as soon as I was about 45 seconds into that song (“Figueroa”), I immediately googled who was singing, bc | straight up assumed it had to have been unreleased material from the 1996 recording sessions of the self-titled album. Bc that song is a banger, and in my opinion, 100% would have been a smash hit/single if released on Sublime, w/ Jakobs voice, and no one would have noticed it wasn’t Bradley.

I really was SHOCKED when I learned that it was his son singing. Anyway, I found the "Memories" show, and like I said, have been listening to it nonstop. And that's what made me start searching for more videos of the band from the 1990's. There really are so many more of them on the tube than there were there the last time I was on a Sublime run like 6-7 years ago. I really liked this one I saw this morning that I had never seen.

I just saw Bradley’s 15 year anniversary tribute video on the tube…

I thought I had seen almost all of the old-school Sublime videos on YouTube, but I clearly missed one. It’s crazy that this year was the 30th anniversary of Bradley’s untimely passing.

But 15 years ago, the band/someone affiliated with the band, posted this 15 year tribute video, and i thought it was amazing. Unfortunately, it’s only like 6 minutes long, but it still hits hard as fuck, in my opinion. What a tragic loss man…

Last post I want to make to the sub. I need to backtrack a little/apologize for coming in so hot and proceeding to talk sh*t to everyone who had a different opinion than me.

A lot of the comments on the 2 other posts I have made since I found, and joins this sub a few days back, have definitely set me straight.

To lay it all out there and be 100% truthful, me finding the Memories show again a few weeks back has lit a fuse in me that I hadn’t really realized was there.

I had taken like 20 different measures since I first found that mp3 soundboard recording when I was in college in 2004-2005 (not sure the exact year I found the show), to make sure I never lost a copy of it.

Burning it onto 20 different CD’s, transferring it to every new labtop/mp3 player/iPhone I ever got. But time goes by, and slowly but surely, I lost every single cd/mp3 player/computer/phone that had that epic show on it.

And then tragically, FINALLY losing the last place I had it stored (on my iPhoneX that I got in December of 2017) when that phone FINALLY met its demise when it got left in the Texas summer sun for 2 hours a few years back, completely frying the entire phone, SIM card included.

The amount of shit on that phone that I lost (I was stupid and never backed it up or used iCloud) still rips me up inside when in I think about it. Pictures and videos, and especially that “Memories” show.

Back to the fuse that got lit, I randomly asked ChatGPT the other day to help me find that show again. 3 seconds later it was like “uhhh, yo, someone smartened up, and actually officially released that same epic soundboard recording from Tressel Tavern in 1994 on ITunes. It’s now called “$5 at the Door”.

I was blown away. I only recently downloaded ChatGPT bc of my buddies always giving me shit about being so stubborn and refusing to download it. All bc I read a single comment on instagram years ago that had so many likes saying it was just another google.

I’m a writer. Or a journalist. Whatever we are called these days, and am obviously not very tech savvy. But last summer, I FINALLY (at 42 years old, I’m 43 now) purchased my very first, and no doubt, LAST, home.

It’s just been problem after problem after problem since the day we closed, trying to handle them all on my own… Pool equipment, busted aircon unit that is on its last leg, massive oak trees that are STRUGGLING from years of neglect by previous owners, fucked up foundation from shitty gutters draining all their water RIGHT up against the concrete foundation for god knows how long, fuck me man, that’s like 4 of the 100 problems I’ve been trying to handle on my own by googling everything.

It was wearing me down. Finally downloaded that app, and it is actually pretty fucking shocking how much that single app has changed my life, and how much easier/less stressful it has made fixing the new problem that pop up every day.

This now sounds like an ad for ChatGPT, it’s not though. Just pointing out how fucking simple it was for me to rediscover, in my opinion. one of the most legit live performances by any band, ever, at their absolute peak.

Back to some of the comments here. I have just been so pumped since I got that show back a few weeks ago. And then was straight up SHOOK a few days ago when i randomly clicked on the new album from iTunes recommendation, going into it 100% completely blind, and hearing a couple of the songs, not having a single fucking clue what Eric and Bud have been up to since I last tried to listen to “Sublime” with a different singer like 15 years ago, thinking it was absolute dogshit.

Was dropping a duece a few days back, and felt like a good laugh, so I downloaded a few songs from the new album just to hear how shit, in my opnion, that same singer was or whoever else they had tried to replace Bradley with.

And yea…. I’ve already written wayyyy too fucking much and already posted my opinion of some of the new songs a few days back. No need to go there again.

Point being, everyone bagging on me for coming in so hot and calling everyone who doesn’t like what they hear on this album as much as me a fucking idiot are 100% COMPLETELY correct.

And I 100% apologize to anyone who actually makes it this far in this ridiculously long post that I called an idiot for not digging the album.

Trying to argue or talk shit with someone or telling them they are an idiot for what they like musically, or what sounds good to them and what doesn’t, what music they feel and what they don’t, is about as pointless of an endeavor in existence. Not sure what the fuck I was thinking. Just overly amped and absolutely astonished right after I listened to “Figueroa” a few times back to back.

It’s like trying to argue with someone about what kind of person they are attracted to. Man, woman, tall, short, big, small, blonde hair, dark hair, red hair, pink hair, light skin, dark skin, blue skin, green skin, whatever… you get the point.

We like what we like, and we can’t explain it or understand it. It’s just what time and circumstance have made our brains like/dislike. And NO TWO people are the same.

It’s obviously the EXACT same with music. We can’t explain why we like/dislike something, it’s just the way our brains are wired. And there is no wrong or right music to enjoy listening to or wrong or right opinion on said music.

It was just the amount of actual hate that I first read when I joined this sub the other day that kind of caught me off guard, and then I proceeded to basically do the same shit, hate on peeps who feel the music differently than I do. I really do feel like a complete dumbshit for running my mouth at people who had a different opinion.

My bad yo. I’m going to quietly back away from the sub and just be a casual observer, and eagerly watch what unfolds with Eric, Jakob, and Bud over the next few years, hoping that we really do get one more album that shows the true potential of Bradley’s son’s chemistry with the same 2 dudes who created lightning in a bottle with him over 30 years ago.

I really am blown away by the amount of haters in this sub. I wish I could see the age of the people making some of these ridiculously negative comments, there has to be a correlation in age and what the posters opinion is.

I feel like there are some super sour and negative old(er) people in here that almost seem offended that Jakob just stepped the fuck up and showed his true potential with this new album. It ain’t perfect, but dude, the next one is going to change A LOT of peoples opinions I feel. I was born in 1983, and I’m fucking PUMPED about what is happening with Bud, Eric, and Jakob right now.

There are a shit load of negative and bitchy people in this sub. I just joined it like 3 days ago, and I’m fucking blown away by all the haters. They must not know shit about music or how every works between band members/singers, but Eric, Bud, and Jakob got something man.

Not Bradley magic, but you’d have to be a complete fucking idiot to throw on this new album and not nod your head to some of the songs and actually FEEL a LITTLE bit of the magic from 30 years ago. It’s there.

Compared to Sublime with Rome????? Bahahahahaha!!! That shit was a complete joke. Jakob loves the band, a real fan like the ones of us who just want to rock out to some good music from our childhoods. I mean, how could you not be a Sublime fan??? And when your pops was the heart and soul of said band, he is probably a super fan and could single every single song they have ever played in the studio and live. My ultimate wish would be him, Eric, Bud, and someone sitting in playing the guitar parts, getting up on a massive stage and playing the “Memories” show. Well, now it is called “$5 at the Door”. But I want to hear Jakob singing “Youth are getting Restless”, “Work that We Do”, “Leaving Babylon”, “”Prison Oval Rock”, hell, the entire show start to finish. I know Bud and Eric could still hit every bass line and drum beat note for note from that show. Oh man, it would be FUCKING EPIC if they someday did that show.

And yo, he IS in fact his father’s son, with the looks, the energy, the charisma, I’m sorry to the haters, but he’s got it. His 30 year old voice is finally settled, he ain’t a 18 year-old kid anymore. Yea, he hasn’t been screaming and yelling with pure emotion like Bradley did every show since their first gig on July 4th in 1988, having a bit more raspy voice. But he’s got the writing skills, the creativity, and the voice. They will have to have to hire a good guitarist, but so what??

There will never be another Bradley Nowell, who can sing, write, bring the wild energy. and play the guitar like he could.

All these clowns hating on this album are going to look like complete fucking idiots when the next album drops.

Bc it’s coming, no matter what Jakob says, no matter what Bud says, no matter what Eric says. Record companies are going to be offering them HUGE fucking deals, with top of the line producers salivating at getting the chance to get them into the studio. Fucking mark it. There WILL be another album, and it is going to be legit.

First time poster here, never once visited this sub. Found myself here 2 days ago after I LOL’d at ITunes suggesting a new Sublime album the other day, with no idea that it even existed, and wanted to drop my take.

Straight up, I’ve maybe listened to 2-3 “Sublime with Rome” songs, ever, never made it through more than 30 seconds of any of them. They sucked, so bad. When I saw the album cover, I immediately assumed it was Bud and Eric with that same dude singing. Again, I lol’d and then just started feeling so bad for those 2 dudes. 30 fucking years, and they were still out there trying to grind it out without Bradly, when they had just finished (mostly) making one of the most epic albums ever over the winter of 1995/early 1996.

Everyone pretty knows what happened, Bradly got strung out again while making the album in Austin, and got sent home by the producers bc everyone was tired of finding him nodded off in the bathroom of the studio. When they went to Mexico over New Years that year, they brought back a shit ton of Valium apparently, and that’s when shit started to get really bad with him. Anyway, he goes home, gets sober, gets married, hits the road for the tour, and then San Francisco happened.

Back to Eric and Bud, I can not even imagine how brutal that moment was, and the subsequent months after watching their album skyrocket the band (that no longer existed), knowing that they were right on the cusp of, well who knows. So I said fuck it, and threw the album on just out of pure curiosity, with zero idea who was singing. Right away I figure they had just had a bunch of unreleased songs or something, bc I thought Bradly was singing.

Yup, nothing groundbreaking, but, are you kidding me with all these negative reactions??? It sounds like Sublime. That’s why I fell in love with the band. Bc of their sound. I don’t want anything groundbreaking. I never expected to hear what I heard when I threw on “Figueroa”. Never in a million years.

A song that 100% would have been a single on the self-titled album in 1996, with Jacob’s voice. No one would have noticed it wasn’t Bradly singing that song if it rolled right after “Pawnshop”, or “Garden Grove”, that’s how good I think that song is. I’m still going to get through the rest of the album here in the next few days, but that song alone tells me that there is SERIOUS chemistry between Jacob, Bud, and Eric. I can’t even imagine what was going through their heads listening to the playback of that song in the studio. It must have been eerie as fuck. There is potential here people. Not OG Bradly Sublime, but shit man, it is there, for sure. They said no more albums, but I don’t believe that for a second. There will be another one. And THATS what I’m looking forward to.

I’m old enough to remember the first time I opened the self-titled CD and put it on my stereo in my room when I was 13 in 1996. It was lightning in a bottle, I loved the more polished sound compared to their previous albums, but I love the previous albums just as much, you know what I’m saying??

But my true obsession with the band came when I got the Memories show in 2003. Im embarrassed to even admit how many times I’ve listened to that show. THATS the REAL Sublime to me, never to be matched by anyone. It is absolutely shocking how on they were that night in November of 1994 at Tressel Tavern in Everett, Washington.

I’ve had that show burned on CD’s 20 different times, had it on every laptop I’ve ever had and every iPhone I’ve ever had. Until 2 years ago when my iPhone got left out in the sun and completely died. I was devastated I lost that show.

But 2 weeks ago, I randomly googled it to see if there was still a bootleg mp3 copy out there. I wanted it back. Then ChatGPT said, “yo dude, someone smartened up, and actually released the album, here it is in ITunes, same beautiful soundboard recording, same one-of a kind perfect show from start to finish, not a single note out of place, just retitled $5 at the Door.

Bought it 3 seconds after I found it, and I’ve been listening to it non-stop, again, for 2 weeks straight. That’s probably the only reason the new album was suggested to me. But dude, I just don’t get all the hate for this album. It ain’t perfect, doesn’t explore new stuff, but I could care less. I’ve been jamming the fuck out to a few of the songs, and I am not ashamed to admit it.

Jacob is 2 years older than his pops was when he died. That’s crazy. But his voice has no doubt finally settled, and man, it is EERIE how solid he sounds on the album. “Figueroa” is a fucking banger, and I really think that song was one of the first they laid down and all prob looked at each other and said, “Damn, this feels real. This is happening. And it feels and sounds epic.” I honestly think there will be another album in the next year or so, regardless of what they are all saying right now. And I’d bet a fat chunk of money that it will be a really good album with many, many singles. There. That’s my speech.

Recent pic of Pillars of Creation. Webb's infrared view highlights the evaporating occurring in the massive 4 light-year tall pillars, where stars of all different sizes are bursting to life. (NASA, Diego Pisano)

Every time someone combines and processes a new version of Hubble and Webb's views of the Pillars of Creation in the Eagle Nebula, I always cant help but wonder how beautiful the gaseous nebula that our Sun formed out of ~4.6 billion years ago. It could have very easily looked just as beautiful as this small section of the Eagle Nebula, or who knows, it could have looked even MORE beautiful, Either way, seeing an image like this, showing unfathomably large clouds of thick molecular hydrogen and light years long clouds of star dust composed of all the ingredients necessary for life,
