Guy almost sideswipes me on the Stoney/Deerfoot overpass, then brake checks me twice

This happened on the Stoney SE/Deerfoot overpass heading toward Deerfoot.

There were no other cars around when this happened, and I was just driving normally in my lane.

This guy comes over and gets SUPER close to clipping me. I wasn’t speeding up or trying to block him from getting over at all. He easily could’ve accelerated more and gone in front of me, or slowed down and gone behind me. I genuinely did not care either way.

I honked because he almost hit me. Not a long aggressive honk and I wasn’t mad, just a quick “what are you doing?” honk.

Then he completely lost it.

He brake checked me TWICE, kept flipping me off, and looked absolutely furious. Even when he exited at 130th Ave, he was still giving me the finger while taking the exit.

Meanwhile, I’m honestly just confused because from my perspective, he was the one who almost caused the accident; if anyone should be outraged, it should be me. I am just startled by his reaction.

I went back and checked my dashcam footage afterwards because I started second-guessing myself, but it really does look like he nearly clipped me.

So… what do you think? Am I missing something here?

Has anyone else noticed how impatient some drivers in yyc have become with pedestrians lately?

A while ago I had a car speed around me while I was already on a crosswalk, only for them to stop at a red light right after anyway.

Then today I watched a couple RUN across the road because a car was pushing so close behind them trying to hurry them along.

Those are just two examples, but I’ve honestly been noticing this a lot lately around Calgary. I live close to amenities and would genuinely love to walk more places, but sometimes it just feels unsafe as a pedestrian now.

I get everyone wants to get where they’re going, but saving a few seconds just doesn’t seem worth making people feel unsafe crossing the street.
