Readability of Library Books (Typography)

I really can't read books with small print. Is there any way of finding out the readability of books before I borrow them?

What's a good measure of readability (based on typography, not language)?

I do know about Libby, Borrowbox, etc. apps BTW and I use them when I can. Unfortunately that's less often than I'd like. I also use KIndle when I'm feeling flush.

If there's a better place to ask this, please point me there.

Collingwood not on TV in Adelaide. Again!

For the second week in a row, the pies AFL match isn't on free-to-air in Adelaide.

Don't they realise that this is the BEST TEAM IN THE WORLD, from THE SPORTING CAPITAL OF THE UNIVERSE?

And don't they realise that there are heaps of pies non-supporters who LOVE to see them get mashed, and who are not gunna get Kayo for the privilege?

Reading Samples

I tend to read many books, often from award lists (eg Booker, Pulitzer, Miles Franklin). As a result I only end up reading the first 50-100 pages, before deciding the book isn't for me.

On Libby I've started downloading and reading samples. These give ~40 pages or so, which is often enough for me to work out whether I proceed or not. It's a particularly good idea when the wait list would be long.

Is this a cost to my library?
